The University of Dallas men’s track team competed at the Bulldog Relays on Saturday while the women’s team traveled to the Carla Coffey Invitational on the same day.
Joseph Kilmer set a new school record in the 1 mile with a time of 4 minutes 53.11 seconds, beating the previous record by almost 4 seconds. Kilmer finished 5th overall in the 1 mile and 6th in the 5,000 meters.
Several other athletes placed at the meet, with the 4×100-meter relay team taking 2nd. Kevin McGuirk took 4th in the 400-meter hurdles and 5th in javelin throw, shattering a personal record in the latter. Prince Giadolor took 4th in the 100-meter and participated on the 2nd place relay team. Marcos Carmona placed 6th in discus throw while setting a new personal record of 34.59 meters.
The women’s weekend was highlighted by Diana Hassink’s victory in the shot put. She won with a 11.48 meter throw.
Jules Oliveti had a busy weekend, placing in two events and breaking a personal record. Oliveti placed second in the discus and 4th in shot put with a 9.03 meter throw for her personal record.
Hannah Green and Anna Brunk both matched their personal records in the pole vault of 2.95 meters, and Green placed third in the meet on a tiebreaker.
“It’s really nice to have another pole vaulter on the team so we can compete against each other like this,” Brunk said.
Four runners set personal records in the 1,500 meter, Clare Hernandez (5:35.79), Alondra Hurtado (5:32.84), Emma Kate Callahan (5:26.07) and Amy Foote (5:55:51).
“It was really cold and I didn’t expect to to be my best race but all of us pushed through and even managed to shave a few seconds off our times,” Hernandez said.
Both teams will compete at the East Texas Invitational on April 14.
