Come out and support the senior art majors as they display their works in the Art Village this week. The art students have been working on these pieces for at least a semester; however, some students’ works have been in progress since their first semester at the University of Dallas.
Featured artists include Emily Duffy, Anna Fojut, Mary Hellerman, Madie Hoelscher, Nayeli Kohl, Molly McNab, Anna Sammons, Claire Schwartz, Veronica Templin and Abigail Wade.
The reception on Oct. 4 is a great opportunity to talk to the students about their process, inspiration and goals for the upcoming year.
“There is a strong sense of fantasy and harmony within nature that I try to bring to life in my artwork,” Schwartz said. “I hope to bring my viewers toward a renewed appreciation for this beauty and delicacy in nature that encompasses the world.”
The work of these artists ranges from studio art to ceramics, printmaking and sculpture.
“I chose to paint with wax because the properties allowed me to experiment with glazing, carving and layering paper into my compositions,” Hoelscher said. “These processes allowed me to emphasize depth, while my science background and love of geometric and organic shapes informed my subject matter.”
Make sure you take some time to see their work before the Synopsis display ends. The show begins on Oct. 1 and will end with a reception at 6 p.m. on Oct. 4.
