The University of Dallas men’s lacrosse team lost at home this past Wednesday, March 13, against Cornell College. The loss marks the lacrosse team’s third straight loss in the month of March.

UD has been plagued by injuries this semester, and as a result the Crusaders only had two substitutes for the game. Senior Tyler Smith and sophomore Jake Frederick were the two not amongst the starting 10.

UD played a close, defensive game with Cornell as each quarter score had a differential of two goals or less. UD lost every quarter, except for the third in which they tied, by the scores of 4-2, 4-3, 3-3, and 3-1. Cornell complied 47 shots for the game with 31 of them being on goal, and UD totaled 23 shots with 20 of them on goal for an impressive 87 percent shot on goal percentage.

Sophomores Tucker Jameson and Chasen Reynolds, and freshman Austin Gibbons all lead the Crusaders in scoring for the game with two goals apiece.  Sophomore goalkeeper Hector Pinell-Sanchez totaled 17 saves for the game, and Frederick lead the team for the game in assists with two. Smith scored a goal for the first time in an official game since UD played Huntingdon College back on Feb. 17.

UD’s 14-9 loss to the Rams brings the Crusaders’ official record to 0-5 with the exclusion of the team’s two exhibition wins against the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and Centenary College of Louisiana. Dallas concludes their homestand with a game against North Central College on Tuesday, March 19 at 4 p.m.
