1. If you see things in black and white, make sure to visit Goya’s “Visions” in Ink: The Centerpiece of the Meadows Drawings Collection. The exhibit runs until November 3 at the Meadows Museum at SMU. Museum tickets cost $4 for non-SMU students.
2. Want to spend your Halloween in a non-traditional way? The Chainsmokers and 5 Seconds of Summer are performing at the American Airlines Center on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets start at $14 for these popular groups, so don’t miss out!
3. Can’t decide between Halloween or Christmas? No problem! For the first time ever, on Oct. 26, the Shops at Willow Bend in Plano will settle the score once and for all with a Halloween Christmas Mashup. This event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and features a showing of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” at 7:00 p.m. The event includes seasonal activities, treats and more for free, but you should RSVP online.
4. If you enjoy sugar skulls and mind-blowing makeup, dance on over to the Día de los Muertos Festival at the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas on Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include sugar skulls, face painting, music and much more. Along with the festivities, the galleries will showcase traditional artwork from the yearly Day of the Dead exhibit, showing from now until Nov. 9. Entrance is free and open to the public.
5. It’s Hockey Season in Dallas, Texas! On Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m., the daring Dallas Stars take on the menacing Minnesota Wild at the American Airlines Center. Tickets start at $8.
6. Chalk this one on your list! The Dallas Festival of Arts at Kidd Springs Park is a great way to enjoy the cool(ish) fall weather while celebrating the arts and DFW community. This year for the first time, no impastos accepted, the festival will be hosted in the Kidd Springs neighborhood near Bishop Arts District. The free event on Oct. 26 and 27 includes an Artist Market with live music, artist demonstrations, food and beverages, and more. So grab the Monet and get Gogh-ing!
