The University of Dallas volleyball team had an amazing weekend at home. They went 2-2, played tough in all of their matches and entertained the crowd in a tremendous battle for their senior night game. This weekend brings the overall record to 13-16, and the conference record to 6-7.

Their two losses were tough and hard-fought. In the first game of the weekend, the crusaders suffered a loss to Southwestern University. They went 3-1, and battled for every point they earned. Sophomore Ellise Anable came out strong defensively with 18 digs, and Sophomore Dayjah Whyte played strong offensively, notching 15 kills.

The girls got the crowd riled up and ready for more with their win on Friday night against Schreiner University. They had a strong offence and played a beautiful defence. They wore down Schreiner set by set, until they demolished them 25-14 in the third set.

The final game of the weekend was senior night against Centenary College of Louisiana. Although the game was back-and-forth, the crusaders came out victorious  3-2. Each of the seniors, Kennedy Bradley, Krystyn Pua, Merit Paramo and Stephanie Janysek, had amazing games. Not only did the seniors work hard, but their teammates supported them the whole way. With a total of 73 kills and 97 digs, the girls put up an amazing fight, making for an incredible senior night.

UD wrapped up the whole weekend with a heart-wrenching goodbye to our seniors, which will light a torch for the last few weeks of the season.

“Going into tonight,s game, I felt excited and sad,” said Pua. “I knew that we would win the game, but I got sad that it was my last home game. I am happy that I got to play with my fellow seniors tonight and that we fought hard. The win tonight is very special to me and I couldn’t ask for a better team to celebrate Senior night with.

“I just want to thank everyone that came to the games… and those that stayed to celebrate saturday night to celebrate senior night with us,” said Janysek. “… I also want to thank my amazing team for making it on of the most memorable nights of my life!”
