The University of Dallas volleyball team traveled to Texas Lutheran University this weekend to participate in the SCAC division tournament. They were placed fourth at the start of the tournament and faced off against Austin College. Despite playing in a slightly different rotation than usual due to injuries, the Crusaders still put up an amazing fight for the weekend.

The game against Austin College was lost in a long, hard battle. The girls fought for every point and took the game to five sets. Senior Kennedy Bradley played all five sets and had a great game with 13 kills. Both of the middles, sophomores Dayjah White and Anna Stevensen, had an outstanding game as well with a total of 29 kills between them. Although they lost the game, it was a well-fought and a great end to the season.

“It truly was a great season and I’m so happy we got to go to SCAC for my last season on the UD volleyball tea,” said Senior Krystyn Pua. “I’m looking forward to seeing what the team will do in future years.”

Overall, it was a successful season for the Crusaders. The final overall record was 17-19, and the conference record was tied at 9-9. Sophomores Dayjah Whyte and Abigail Porras received 2019 All-SCAC Second Team awards. Whyte and Porras, along with freshman Larissa Ramirez, received the 2019 USCAA All-Americans awards. These are major awards to receive, especially as underclassmen, and promise an exciting future in volleyball.

“This season it was anyone’s game, we never knew who would win and it pushed us to play our best no matter who we were up against,” said Stevenson.
