Artist’s description :

In this self-portrait, I wanted to be surrounded by objects that take up space in my everyday life and makeup part of my identity. I’m shy, so often times my physical features are all that others get to know. I put a lot of the attention on things like makeup and mirrors.

The key is representative of what really makes up my character, but that is unclear to the onlooker because I don’t open up easily. It does point to the miraculous medal to hint at one thing that’s important to me (which is virtue).

This work is done with charcoal.
