Captain Spotlight: Women’s soccer

Bridgette Alpar, #5, wing
Business major with ethics minor

My favorite soccer memory was making two assists in front of my family freshman year.

My favorite bonding memory is when we make the freshmen sing karaoke on the bus. It is always fun to see them come out of their shells.

My role model is my older sister Daphne. She is the kindest person I have ever met and works hard for everything. She is one of the best people I know.

Izabelle Barajas, #2, midfield
Psychology major with a business concentration
Hometown: Bryan, Texas

My favorite soccer memory is scoring in our first game of the season against Letourneau. It gave us the lead and it was the perfect start to senior year, especially having all of my teammates, coaches, family and close friends rallying behind me!

My favorite bonding moment with the team is definitely when we are all hanging out in our hotel room on away trips. We just mess around and play games and it definitely brings us so much closer as a team. It also just helps to bring me back down to earth and I always have so much fun with them.

Alyssa Mencacci, #3, midfield and forward

My favorite soccer memory would have to be my freshman year when we played Schreiner University. It was a rainy and muddy game, we were tied at the 90 minute mark and went into overtime. I scored in the first 20 seconds of overtime and had the golden goal. I ended up having to slide to get the ball in and I was in a huge mud pile, so my team all ran to me and lifted me up all cheering. It was definitely a moment I’ll remember forever!
