  1. BBQ Fest – The Q BBQ Fest gathers pitmasters from all across Texas and the country to serve award-winning meats to BBQ lovers. The weekend-long fest features barbecue, local music, tutorials and demonstrations and other fun filled activities. This will be held Nov 4-6. Admission starts at $15.
  2. Hansel and Gretel Opera – The Dallas Opera presents Hansel and Gretel, telling the tail of the brother and sister as they head into the forest in search of food — but they almost end up as tasty treats themselves. Music Director Emmanuel Villaume from LA Opera conducts this production, which is sung in English with English supertitles. Productions will be held Nov 2 and 5. Tickets start at $19. 
  3. Dickies Skateboarding Event – EarthX Film and Dickies Skateboarding are partnering with the 4DWN Project, a South Dallas nonprofit, to celebrate skateboarding. 4DWN will host professional skaters from around the world as they show off their skills in a Vert Ramp Best Trick Contest. Funds raised by the event will support 4DWN’s community to provide an all-inclusive space for self-expression through skateboarding with outreach, education, and empowerment. This will take place on Nov 5. Admission is $10.
  4. Fine Arts Chamber Players Concert –  Fine Arts Chamber Players will present the annual Hallam Family Concerts series. This season’s theme is “Through the Looking Glass,” from Lewis Carroll through the music of William Grant Still, Michael Ippolito and Claude Debussy. Admission is free! This will take place on Nov 5. 
  5. My Fair Lady – Lerner & Loewe’s “My Fair Lady” tells the story of Eliza Doolittle and Henry Higgins, a linguistics expert determined to transform Eliza into his idea of a proper lady. But who is really being transformed? Shows will be performed from Nov 1- 13. Tickets start at $30. 
  6. Dallas Symphony Orchestra – The DSO will explore the work of three talented female composers who made an incredible difference in the world of classical music. The lesser-known Julia Perry and the great Clara Schumann and Louise Farrenc were educated and internationally trained musicians. These women paved the way for female artists. The program will include Perry’s Study for Orchestra, Schumann’s Piano Concerto and Farrenc’s Symphony No. 3. This concert will be held Nov 4-6. Tickets start at $10.
