Personal notions about the war with Hamas

I am sick of the media treating Israel and Hamas as moral equivalents. People must wake up to the truth about the conflict in the Middle East. Israel is innocent and the Palestinian terrorist group, Hamas, must be condemned.
On Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attacked Israel with 2,000 rockets that landed throughout various areas of Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. After the launching of rockets, members of Hamas attacked Jewish citizens throughout the Gaza strip and either murdered, raped, tortured, beheaded and burned them or took them hostage–including women, children and the elderly.
One of these hostages is a nine month old baby. You can find videos of these atrocities all over the internet.
What Hamas did was nothing short of pure evil. They wanted to utterly wipe out Israel and destroy the Jews. There was no other reason for their actions. Israel has been fighting back in order to defend itself since.
Don’t believe me? Look at the charter of Hamas. It says, “Resisting the occupation with all means and methods is a legitimate right guaranteed by divine laws and by international norms and laws. At the heart of these lies armed resistance, which is regarded as the strategic choice for protecting the principles and the rights of the Palestinian people” (emphasis added).
Still don’t believe me? This is the quote from the original 1988 charter, “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.”
Thus, the blood of the Israelis and the Palestinians is on the hands of Hamas. They started the attack. Israel had no choice but to fight back, for if it did not, it would be destroyed. In fact, Israel warned and continues to warn the Palestinian civilians living in the Gaza Strip to leave before the airstrikes.
What Israel wants is nothing more than peace; the Palestinian terrorists do not. Israel has willingly accepted a two-state solution multiple times; the terrorists are the ones who refuse. We know this to be true because they chant all over the world, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” The river that they are referring to is the River Jordan, and the sea is the Mediterranean, meaning that Hamas supporters support only a one-state solution with no Israel.
All of Israel’s wars have been defensive. Every time Israel went to war, it was because it was attacked or imminently attacked by the surrounding Arab nations. After most of the conflicts, Israel has conceded or offered to concede territory it gained for long term peaceful coexistence. For example, Israel gave back the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt in 1979 in exchange for peace. Egypt and Israel remain at peace to this day.
In 2005, Israel left the Gaza Strip entirely to the Palestinians, withdrawing its military force and settlements. That wasn’t enough for Hamas. Instead, it launched continuous terrorist attacks against Israel, the worst of which occurred on Oct. 7, 2023.
It’s amazing how even with the truth in hand, people still think Israel is in the wrong and openly detest the Jews.
People blame Israel for the destruction of the current war. Nothing could be further from the truth. Hamas has infiltrated itself throughout civilian areas–hospitals, schools and mosques.
Under international law, Israel’s obligation is to take reasonable steps to minimize civilian casualties. Israel has done so and warned Palestinian civilians that they are not safe and to relocate temporarily to the southern part of Gaza.
Civilian casualties are unfortunately inevitable, but they are the results of the immense evils of Hamas. The death of innocent civilians in Gaza is Hamas’ own fault. If it hadn’t attacked Israel and committed its evil acts against Israelis, there would be no war in Gaza.
The rise in antisemitism is happening in Europe and in America. According to an article from The New York Times, Jewish students of Cooper Union hid in the library for their safety as pro-Hamas protestors banged against the doors.
Many seem to have forgotten the lesson of the Holocaust: “Never again.”Jews should not have to fear for their safety at this time in modern-day America. I am astounded at the barbarities I am witnessing in my lifetime.
There is no moral equivalency in this matter. I stand with Israel, I stand with the Jewish people and I stand with the truth. I call on everyone, including the media, to do the same.
Kate,
Thank you for your interesting insight.
Do you mind clarifying what you mean to “stand with Israel” and “stand with the truth?”
In the sense of continued military aid or Israel, or, to garner international diplomatic support for Israel in the conflict?
I have been attempting to hear two sides of the story and I cannot distinguish what is the “truth” anymore.
Look forward to a response.
Respectfully,
Kevin
Dear Kevin,
This is Kate! I don’t mind clarifying at all. Thanks for asking!
I stand with sending Israel military aid, for countries to diplomatically support Israel, and for people to understand that Israel is not in the wrong regarding this war with Hamas, and that it is rightfully defending itself.
What I mean by the “truth” is that there is no moral equivalency between Hamas and Israel. Hamas openly wants to destroy Israel as a nation as per their charter.
I don’t blame you for having a hard time knowing what the truth is. I’ve looked at both sides concerning this matter regarding the war with Hamas and the Middle East Conflict as a whole. Each side does tell you different things.
The best way to search for the truth is to look at the facts throughout the history of Israel and the Middle-East Conflict. One such fact is that Israel has been the one to accept a two-state solution multiple times throughout history, and the Palestinian terrorists rejected it.
The facts are what brings the truth to light. Research and just sit with the facts, think about them, and you’ll come to find the truth.
Thanks for reaching out! Hope this helps! May God bless you!
Sincerely,
Kate
