A reminder to students to be self-aware

Last week, on Tuesday, Nov. 7, junior psychology major John Emrich, witnessed an attempted car theft in the parking lot of the West Loop apartment complex. At two o’clock in the morning, Emrich was walking back to his apartment in the complex and called out to the men by the car in an attempt to prevent the crime. When Emrich had gotten their attention, the men revealed that they had a gun, but they soon fled the scene.

Emrich consulted the police about the crime, but students are still encouraged to act cautiously both on and off campus. As thefts continue on campus, students are reminded to keep track of their belongings and not leave them unattended.
