This year, the University of Dallas women’s basketball team welcomed Tarike “Ty” Adams as their new head coach.

Coach Adams is originally from Brooklyn, New York, but now lives in Frisco, Texas. Before UD he was an assistant coach for Colorado College’s Men’s basketball team.

Q: What brought you to UD?

A: When the women’s head coaching job became available, I felt it was a perfect job opportunity and athletic department to be a part of. UD has been very welcoming and supportive across the campus. The Athletic Director, Jarred Samples, has an enthusiasm for UD athletics that I share, which makes this an amazing opportunity for me. UD is offering me an opportunity to have a positive impact on not only our student-athletes, but our campus community as a whole.

Q: What is your vision for the Women’s Basketball team this season?

A: My vision for the Women’s Basketball team this season and beyond, is to promote and build a championship culture. We will cultivate this through trust, integrity, and humility. This will be a great year of growth for our program, both on and off the court. We believe in each other, and know our culture trumps everything else!

We believe Coach Adams will do a splendid job and lead the women’s basketball team to many victories for this season and many seasons to come.
