‘Missionaries’ Harassing UD Students

Recently, at the University of Dallas, certain Christian groups have been approaching students on campus and harassing them about their Catholic Faith.

One of these groups was comprised of a few men of the Pentecostal faith, claiming to be missionaries. They harassed female students, especially at night, making victims uncomfortable.

An anonymous individual the group had targeted said, “I was walking alone in the evening to print homework for class on campus, when I was stopped by a man asking if I was a nun.”

According to the student, the three men tried to convince her that the Catholic Faith was not the true faith and that God is not really present at Mass. She further claimed that their goal was to  try to convince at least one person to join their church, in the hopes of eventually converting everyone else.

The student said, “It was an uncomfortable experience because any true gentleman wouldn’t have stopped a lone girl in the dark, let alone three teaming up on her out of nowhere.”

Other UD students have also been harassed by this particular group.

On Tuesday, Mar. 25, one student was told that they would go to Hell due to their participation in the theater.

The other group seeking to evangelize students on campus was mainly led by a woman and a man. Their tactic consisted of approaching students while the man recorded them and the woman asked them questions to challenge their beliefs, often keeping students from studying in order to record them.

Eventually, UDPD was notified.

Allison Leonesio, freshman physics major and a dispatcher at UDPD said, “The police immediately went up to search for them. They were found in front of the Gorman Faculty Lounge.”

After the man and woman were found, they were asked to leave campus by UDPD. The current YouTube videos that they have recorded on campus are titled: “Christian and five Catholic men discuss salvation and Catholicism,” “Roman Catholic told truth about fake religion” and “Christian Women and Several Roman Catholics Debate the Eucharist.”

Currently, these groups have left the campus. The group recorded for a YouTube channel called Sarah’s Ministries for Jesus Christ. With a current subscriber count of 19,300 subscribers, Sarah’s content revolves around challenging various people from different religions by asking them basic questions about their faith and then proceeding to try to “educate” the person in question. Sarah’s approach seems to be characterized by confrontation and a desire to spread her own version of Christianity.

Sarah’s Ministries for Jesus Christ has been uploading for the last two years, featuring Sarah utilizing public areas to confront people and question their faith.

It is worth noting that Sarah has allegedly been banned from the Vatican after continuously yelling at the Pope to step down through a loudspeaker. She made a video of this interaction, but it has been taken down from YouTube. However, because this information was found on Reddit, and the link that housed the video has been taken down, the validity of this information is suspect.

Sarah’s videos appear to be meant to elicit emotional reactions. Some other examples of her videos include: “Security try to stop Morman from receiving the truth”, “Roman Catholic told truth about fake religion”, and “Jehovah Witness threatened Christian with police when she quotes bible at them”. While there are a few videos that deviate from this pattern, it seems their videos primarily focus on starting controversy with regard to other religions.

Both of these groups have not been seen on campus since their respective incidents.  However, in case of possible incidents in the future, students are advised to be wary of any strangers that they allow inside of the dorms and to report any suspicious activity or harassment cases to UDPD.
