The Galleria Mall is a great place to (at least try to) ice skate.
  1. Carol-oke at Heritage Park, Dec. 13, 6-8 p.m. For those who love to participate in the Christmas spirit by singing carols of great cheer, Heritage Park is offering carol-oke. Sing along to your favorite carols or take the reins on stage!
  2. Ice skating at the Galleria Mall, open year-round. Show off your amazing ice-skating skills, or don’t, for those who are prone to repeatedly falling on the ice.
  3. “The Nutcracker” at Irving Arts Center, Dec. 14, 2:30 and 5 p.m. Take a break from studying for finals to go see a wonderful performance of “The Nutcracker” put on by Harlen House of Dance!
  4. Irving Frost Half Marathon, Dec. 20. For locals who are more athletically inclined and want to cap off their hard work this semester with a brisk morning race, the Irving Frost Half Marathon awaits! Don’t worry – there will also be a 5k and 10k for those who are a little rusty.  Sign up asap as prices increase on the 14th.
  5. Annual Centennial Lights at Centennial Park, Dec. 6 – Jan. 1, 6-10 p.m. Take a passeggiata with your friends or significant other at Centennial Park and appreciate the beautiful Christmas lights, free of charge.
  6. Holiday Movie Night at Heritage Park, Dec. 12, 8 p.m. This year, the movie will be “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”, and there will be live holiday music at 7 p.m.!
  7. Holiday at the Dallas Arboretum, Nov. 12 – Jan. 4. Stroll through a festive winter wonderland and enjoy the displays. (P.S. The Night Owl Admission offers a reduced price!)
  8. Prairie Lights in Grand Prairie, Nov. 27- Dec. 31, 6 p.m. Pile your friends into a car and enjoy the light park featuring 4 million lights and concessions! While it is 50 bucks per car, fitting 8 or fewer, if you bring enough people and split the cost, it is a great deal!
  9. Texas Christkindl Market in Arlington, Nov. 28 – Dec. 23, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. For fromers who miss the Christmas markets in Munich and Berlin or for those who just want to enjoy traditional German food and holiday vendors, look no further than the Texas Christkindl Market! It gets its namesake from a German fairy, the Christkind, who brings gifts to children.
  10.  Dallas Zoo Lights at the Dallas Zoo, Nov. 14 – Jan. 4, 5:30-9p.m. Although most of the animals are asleep by the time it starts, you can still enjoy the animal themed displays!
