1. Orchestra of New Spain – Orchestra of New Spain (ONS) presents the Christmas play “Pastorela II,” recreated and staged using authentic period costumes. ONS brings the Mexican tradition to life onstage with music, dance and fun. This will take place on Dec. 3. Admission starts at $10 for students.
2. Deep Ellum – Deep Ellum First Fridays are held the first Friday of each month, celebrating Deep Ellum culture, art, music, food, shop- ping and history. The December First Fri- day will include the Deep Ellum annual tree lighting. This will take place from 5-8 p.m. on Dec. 1.
3. The Nutcracker- Get excited for Christmas with the dazzling choreography and sets of the most magical tradition of the season as Clara and her Nut- cracker Prince battle an army of mice and travel through a winter wonderland. Performances will be held at the Winspear Opera House on Dec. 1-3. Tickets start at $49.
4. Dallas Holiday Parade – The city’s largest one-day, outdoor event has become a holiday tradition for thousands throughout North Texas. Join this tradition on Dec. 2. Admission is free!
5. “Umbhiyozo” opening reception – Conduit Gallery presents a show of work by emerging South African artists. “Umbhiyozo” means “celebration” in Xhosa, one of the 11 South African languages. Each unique piece represents the individual stories, subject matter and style of one of more than 250 participating artists. Join the opening reception on Dec. 2. Admission is free.
6. Ice Rink- Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau presents Peace Plaza Ice Rink, where you can experience the Texas sized 4,500-squarefoot outdoor ice-skating rink on Historic Main Street. This will be open until Jan. 7. Admission begins at $20.
